The idea of Matcha Circle started in 2016!
I was (and am) primarily an engineer. I was interested in matcha but was disappointed by the local vendors (Costco, Amazon etc). The tea is bitter, "hard", and barely drinkable 😔.
I started an import company and brought in matcha from Taiwan, China, Korea (Jeju island), and of course Japan.
Taiwanese matcha - pretty reasonable, specially given the price.
Chinese matcha - stay away 👎. Low quality and low prices, not worth it in my opinion.
Jeju Island matcha (South Korea) - Koreans call it "malcha". This is pretty awesome, and has extremely high EGCG content. Finding a reliable exporter in South Korea who maintains prices and quality is very hard.
Japanese Matcha - 👍👍 - The homeland of matcha!! Great quality, and reasonable prices points!
Japan offers awesome infrastructure, and support for growing, harvesting, and processing matcha. By far the best value iff you can find the right grower, and skip the middle men.
Matcha Circle maintains direct relationships with exceptional, independent matcha plantations in Kagoshima and Uji, Japan. By cutting out the middlemen we keep prices affordable - despite tariffs. We enforce rigorous quality controls and work closely with our growers to ensure you get authentic, vibrant, and delicious premium matcha.
To lock in that peak freshness, all of our matcha is vacuum-packed in resealable Mylar bags, ensuring it stays as fresh as the day it was ground.
I love talking all things matcha! If you have any questions, comments, or just want to chat about tea, please reach out at - info@matcha-circle.com
