The idea of Matcha Circle started in 2016!
I was (and am) primarily an engineer. I was interested in matcha but was disappointed by the local vendors (Costco, Amazon etc). The tea is bitter, "hard", and barely drinkable 😔.
I started an import company and brought in matcha from Taiwan, China, Korea (Jeju island), and of course Japan.
Taiwanese matcha - pretty reasonable, specially given the price.
Chinese matcha - stay away 👎. Low quality and low prices, not worth it in my opinion.
Jeju Island matcha (South Korea) - Koreans call it "malcha". This is pretty awesome, and has extremely high EGCG content. Finding a reliable exporter in South Korea who maintains prices and quality is very hard.
Japanese Matcha - 👍👍 - The homeland of matcha!! Great quality, and reasonable prices points!.
Japan has awesome support, and infrastructure for growing, harvesting and processing matcha. By far the best value iff you can find the right grower, and skip the middle men.
Matcha Circle has a direct relationship with matcha plantations in Kagoshima and Uji. We have rigorous quality controls and spend time to make sure you get the best quality matcha!
Our matcha is vaccum packed in resealable "mylar" bags to ensure the matcha is fresh and continues to stay fresh as you use it.
